Effective 3 July 2026
Akimeal helps you track what you eat. You photograph a meal and the app estimates its calories and nutrition so you can log it. This policy explains what information Akimeal handles and how.
Akimeal uses an account so your meals sync across your devices. Your meals, photos, nutrition history, and profile are stored on our servers (hosted with Supabase) and protected by your sign-in. We keep this data while your account is active; you can delete it at any time.
You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a basic account identifier and your email address to create and secure your account. We never receive your Apple or Google password.
When you photograph a meal, the image is sent to OpenAI to identify the food and estimate its calories and nutrition, and nutrition values are drawn from the USDA food database. OpenAI processes the image under its own policy. Your meals and their photos are stored in your account.
On iPhone you can connect Apple Health. With your permission, Akimeal reads and writes nutrition and related health data so your meals stay in sync with Health. This is optional, off by default, and you can disconnect it at any time in Settings.
Akimeal is free and shows ads through Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and use information such as your device identifier and your interactions with ads, acting as an independent controller under its own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Where required, the app shows a consent choice. Your meals, photos, and health data are never shared with advertisers.
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google processes the transaction; we do not receive or store your payment details.
Akimeal asks for camera and photo access to capture and attach meal photos, and, on iPhone, optional Apple Health access. Each is used only for the stated purpose.
We use Supabase (secure storage and sign-in), OpenAI (meal-photo analysis), Google AdMob (ads), Apple and Google (sign-in and payments), and the USDA food database (public nutrition data). Each handles information under its own policy. We never sell your data.
You can view and correct your information in the app, connect or disconnect Apple Health, change your advertising choice under Settings then Ad privacy, or delete your account at any time. For any request, contact [email protected].
Akimeal is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
You can delete your account from within the app. Deleting your account removes your meals, photos, nutrition history, and profile from our servers; residual copies in routine backups are removed within a reasonable period.
Advertising identifier: you can reset or delete your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings, under Privacy and then Ads.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
